ABSTRACT:
Introduction: The present study was aimed to assess the “Effectiveness of PowerPoint presentation on knowledge regarding impact of social networking on lifestyle among adolescence of selected college”. Objectives: In view of the nature of the problem under study and to accomplish the objectives of the study, A quasi experimental one group pre-test post-test research design is used. The main objective of the study was evaluating the effectiveness of power point presentation on impact of social networking on lifestyle among adolescence. Material and Methods: Total 100 adolescence were selected as sample for study by using simple random sampling technique. The data was collected by using structured knowledge questionnaires. The Power point presentation was also administered on the same day following the pre-test. Findings: The comparisons of the pretest and post-test means of the knowledge regarding impact of social networking on lifestyle among adolescence of selected college in selected area were done by the paired t-‘test. The test was conducted at 5% level of significance. The pretest average score was 10.64 with standard deviation of 3.37 The post-test average score was 17.14 with standard deviation of 2.98. The chi square test was used to see the association between pre-test and post-test knowledge score of adolescence regarding impact of social networking on lifestyle at selected college. Conclusion: The study concludes that the Power point presentation was effective in imparting knowledge of Impact of Social Networking on Lifestyle. And as seen adolescence was not fully aware about impact social networking so it is important to guide them by providing knowledge on social networking.

INTRODUCTION:
“Children are like wet cement. Whatever falls on them make an impression.”
Dr Haim Ginott
A social networking service (also social networking site, or SNS or social media) is an online platform which people use to build social networks or social relations with other people who share similar personal or career interests, activities, backgrounds or real-life connections.1
Social networking is the use of internet-based social media programs to make connections with friends, family, classmates, customers, and clients. Social networking can occur for social purposes, business purposes or both through sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Classmates.com and Yelp. Social networking is also a significant target area for marketers seeking to engage users.2
Karan Arora (2014), Digital Insight, 10 Important Statistics about Digital and social media in India. Facebook is the most browsed social network on social media with a large base of 100 million users, clearly it is not fading away anytime soon in India. More than 80% of those user’s access Facebook via their mobile phone. Total Twitter users in India are 33 million and from this base 76% of users access it via their mobile phone. LinkedIn has 26 million India users, of the total 300+ Million users. Of the total chunk of 70 million total users in Pinterest, 5.5 million comprise from India. Instagram the usage is more dominated by men in comparison to women; ratio being 75/25. It shows only 1/4th of the women population in India are on Instagram, looks like selfies are more appreciated by men than women!3
Namita Patil, The Knowledge Review. Impact of Social Networking Sites on the Youth says that social networking is expanding at an accelerating pace. To catch up with that youth has to go head over heels to explore all the exciting updates that pop up on their electronic devices every day. But every coin has two sides. As per surveys reports shows that every person spends at least 1.8 hours on socializing with their networks per day. Many researchers have analysed behaviour of the people who are highly addicted to social networking sites. Whenever a post receives likes and comments, people like it and when this happens otherwise, they experience withdrawal. Many people portray a false or fake personality just for the desired to be liked. Social networking is a very broad source of information and communication but at the same time it can be mis leading as well.4
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM:
MATERIALS AND METHODS:
In view the nature of the problem and to accomplish the objectives of the study one group pre-test post-test research design is used. The main objective of the study was evaluating the effectiveness of power point presentation on impact of social networking on lifestyle among adolescence. The study design shows that on the first day (day 1), pre-test was given session wise to assess the existing level of knowledge regarding impact of social networking on lifestyle among adolescence using a structured knowledge questionnaire. Power point presentation imparted on the same day after each session. On the seventh day (day 7) post-test was conducted to assess the gain in knowledge using the same structured knowledge questionnaire. The study design is systematically represented as follows:

DISCUSSION:
Finding of the study conducted in 2017 by Ankolekar, Vrinda Hari; Souza, Anne D; Souza, Antony Sylvan D; Hosapatna, Mamatha, Manipal India. Use of PowerPoint presentations (PPT) plays a key role in anatomy to learn and understand a particular topic. As the subject of anatomy involves more illustrations and demonstrations, PPT becomes essential in conveying the necessary information. PPT’s design adds to the didactic nature of classroom teaching method to dissipate large number of facts, interspersed with illustrations and animations. This study was conducted to understand a student’s perspective and their choice, as to whether they prefer PPT or Blackboard (BB) for their lecture classes. A questionnaire was prepared and was distributed to 160 students of II MBBS course which was based on the effectiveness of teaching tools like BB and PPT and the two methods were compared. Some questions were yes/no type, and the others were to tick the preferred method of lecture presentations for each of the given attributes. The students were instructed to answer questions based on their experience without revealing their identity. 66.1% of students found PPT a better and effective tool which creates interest in the subject. Blackboard enhanced the active participation of students in the class (61.3%) and also helped them to take down notes and diagrams (56.5%). 88.7% of students agreed that a large number of facts could be provided with PPT. The present study provided the students perspective on the teaching tools. PPT is the most acceptable and advanced tool for learning. The traditional method of BB teaching is an alternative for certain aspects such as taking notes and diagrams.
In this study, findings shows that Majority of adolescence used only 1 social networking sites, 26% used 2 social networking sites, 14% used 3 social networking sites while 24% of them used more than 3 social networking sites. The majority of adolescents access social networking via mobile, 6% of access it via computer and 5% of them access via laptop. 53% of adolescents use social networking for at least 30 mins, 24% of them used for 1hour, 9% of them used for 2 hours and 14% of them used for 3 hour or more. 85% of them adolescents had previous knowledge regarding the impact of social networking on lifestyle, and 15% of them did not have previous knowledge regarding impact of social networking on lifestyle.
In this study, findings show that pre-test knowledge mean was 10.64 and posttest mean was 17.14. The post-test mean was significantly greater than the pretest means. The data presented shows that 't' value calculated between mean pretest and posttest was statistically highly significant [calculated ‘t’ value = 24.33, table value ‘t’ = 1.66, P < 0.05]. Hence the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected.
CONCLUSION:
From the study findings it is concluded that the power point presentation was effective in improving the knowledge of adolescence regarding the impact of social networking on lifestyle.
